Making a Claim

Making a Claim

What to do if you need to make a claim

  • Call us on 0800 203 041. We will let you know of your nearest approved repairer. Only after the fault is diagnosed by your repairer will it be accepted as a claim by State
  • If your vehicle can be driven safely without causing further damage, take it to the nearest repairer, otherwise have it towed to them
  • Present your policy and service record to the repairer and have them contact State prior to repairs commencing.
  • Dismantling may be necessary to determine if there is a valid claim. Only you can authorise dismantling.
  • Provided your car has been serviced by you and you have complied with the terms and conditions of your policy, the claim will be accepted and an authorisation number will be provided to your Repairer for agreed cost at completion of the repair
  • Once the work is done, all repair invoices must be forwarded to State within 30 days of the claim being authorised. The invoices must detail repairs, labour, parts and outwork (separate invoices required) and must quote the original authorisation number and your policy number.
  • Any additional labour or parts cost above the initial authorisation by State  will not be accepted without prior approval.
  • We will pay your repairer direct, all costs as agreed, less any excess payable by you
  • Payment of all valid claims will be made within 10 working days of State receiving all completed invoices.
  • We will not accept liability for costs associated with any repairs carried out without our prior approval.
  • This policy does not further undertake to in any way guarantee the Repair.

The excess you will have to pay

The excess or the contribution is the amount towards the claim that you will have to pay. Please check your policy schedule and policy wording for details about your excess or contribution.
