Contents Comprehensive

Protect your personal belongings with the most comprehensive contents insurance State offers.

What you're covered for:

• accidental and sudden loss of or damage to your belongings while at your home or temporarily anywhere in New Zealand
• the replacement cost of most of your contents, no matter what their age or condition, including furniture, fittings, white ware and home appliances (up to the sum insured)
• any single painting, picture, work of art or single ornament up to $10,000
• any single watch, camera, camcorder or item of jewellery up to $2,500
• your collections up to $2,500. You can specify your collections over this value to ensure they are also covered.
• up to $2,000 cover for a bicycle
• up to $2,000 cover for any surfboard, windsurfer, dinghy or canoe
• a ‘top-up’ on any cover provided by the Earthquake Commission for events such as earthquake, volcanic eruption, hydrothermal activity, landslip or tsunami
• hidden gradual damage caused by water leaking in certain circumstances, up to $2,500
• legal liability protection for damage to other people’s property up to $1,000,000
• up to $20,000 cover for additional living expenses if your home is uninhabitable because of sudden and accidental damage
• up to $7,500 cover for a home office

Contents Essentials

Contents Essentials Insurance is ideal if you just want to cover your personal belongings for specific events.

What you're covered for:

• the replacement costs (at their present value) of your furniture, furnishings and home appliances. Some items have sub limits so please read the policy closely
• any single painting, picture, work of art or single ornament up to $10,000
• any single watch, camera, camcorder or item of jewellery up to $2,500
• your collections up to $2,500. You can specify your collections over this value to ensure they are also.
• any bicycle up to $2,000
• any surfboard, windsurfer, dinghy or canoe up to $2,000
• a ‘top-up’ on any cover provided by the Earthquake Commission for events such as earthquake, volcanic eruption, hydrothermal activity, landslip or tsunami

Favourite Things

Protect just those few personal belongings that you really care about under our Favourite Things insurance policy.
 
What you’re covered for:

• insure up to nine items up to a total sum insured value of $10,000, 
• accidental and sudden loss of or damage to the items insured while at your home or temporarily anywhere in New Zealand,
• up to $250 protection for accessories that are associated with the insured items,
• optional personal liability cover.

Things you should know:

• The lowest value item you can insure under Favourite Things is $250.
• Not all items are insured for replacement value. Some items will be covered for present value.  Examples of items only covered for present value are CDs, DVDs, bicycles, books, camping equipment, clothing and footwear, computer hardware more than 5 years old, household linen, licensed computer and gaming software programs, sports equipment and any items that cannot be replaced in New Zealand.
