Find out how State supports New Zealand’s building and motor trade industries and their apprentices.

We rely on a number of key industries to help us meet our customers' claims.
For this reason we're committed to boosting talent and strengthening these industries through the State Apprenticeship Scheme.
Each year we support the vehicle repair and building industries by sponsoring young apprentices through their study towards a qualification in their chosen trade.
In May 2009 State also introduced ten sponsorships for more experienced motor employees wanting to further their career in management. These students participate in a one-year National Certificate in First Line Management course.
In June 2009 the State Collision Repair Extension Programme was also introduced. This programme offers a computer-based, one-year course for up to 30 qualified collision repair technicians who are keen to improve their skills in working with new technology and undertaking repairs.
State pays all course fees and course-related costs for the successful candidates. Apprentices study in their own time while employed with a State Approved Repairer, who provides on-the-job training.
We're proud to be investing in the futures of our apprentices, and in the future of these industries.
The State Apprenticeship Scheme, Management Scheme and Extension Programme are run in association with the Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO) and the Building Construction Training Organisation (BCITO).
