Frequently asked questions

  • How can State Roadside Rescue help me?

State Roadside Rescue is an optional cover available to our personal State insurance customers. It applies to the car, not the driver, so anyone using the car can get help if they’ve run out of petrol, have a flat battery, broken down, been locked out or need to change a tyre.

If our team is unable to get your car back on the road, they'll organise a tow truck to transport it to the nearest safe place or repairer.

Roadside Rescue is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and it costs just $30 a year for two call-outs. You can read more about State Roadside Rescue on our website, or if you’d like to add it to your policy please email us.

  • How does the Roadside Rescue service work on the app?

To use the Roadside Rescue feature in your app, you need to enable your location services. Once enabled, you can request assistance directly from your app and you'll get a text message from us confirming we've got your request.

We're always looking at ways to make the services we offer better, so if you have any feedback, good or bad, don't forget to let us know!

  • Can I still call to request Roadside Rescue?

Yes, you can call Roadside Rescue directly on 0800 10 11 12 if you need urgent assistance or call for an update on your current request.

  • My type of breakdown isn’t in the ‘select the type of problem’ list, what do I do?

If your type of problem isn't listed in the options you can select "Something else" and we'll come and take a look at what the issue is to see if we can get your car started.
