Sum insured. Made simple.

Your contents sum insured is the amount you choose to insure your belongings for. It needs to cover the cost to replace all your stuff if chaos strikes. Think burglary, fire or flood.

Contents calculators. Take your pick.

Not much stuff.

Use Tally to get a quick estimate. Perfect for flatties, students, and minimalists.

Lots of stuff.

Get a detailed estimate. Ideal for people who own their homes and have lots of stuff in them.

What’s in my sum insured?

Think about everything you’d need to replace. Furniture, clothes, electronics, appliances, gardening tools, your board game collection. Add it up, including GST, and that’s your contents sum insured.

Get it right. Sleep tight.

You want to get your sum insured right. Too low and you might not have enough cover. Too high and you're paying for more than you need. Cue, handy contents calculators* to the rescue.

Protecting your fancy stuff.

Some things have limits on how much we’ll pay in a claim. Like jewellery, bikes, works of art, cameras. If you have things worth more than our policy limit, list them separately as ‘specified items’ to cover them for their actual value. Then, those items will be fully insured.

When to sum it up.

*The low-down on the calculators.

  • The Sum Insured contents calculator is an independent tool. We don’t have access to the information you enter, or your estimate.
  • Calculator estimates are based on new stuff. Our contents policies offer replacement cover for most things. If something's beyond repair, we'll fix it or swap it for a brand-new one.
  • Landlord? These calculators aren’t quite right for you. Give us a call on 0800 80 24 24 and we’ll help you work out your sum insured for your landlord’s contents.
  • Flatting? Just tally up your own things. No need to include your flatmate’s stuff. Or your landlord’s stuff.
  • The calculators give you a general estimate. They can’t give you personalised financial advice. You’re the best judge of what your stuff is worth.
