Highly commended in the New Zealand, General Insurer of the Year category for 11 years in a row.
Committed to treating you fairly. Proudly displaying our Fair Insurance Code credentials.
Our AA Financial strength rating means we have a very strong claims-paying ability.
You and anyone with a valid driver’s licence, provided they’re meeting their licence conditions and can legally ride in NZ. If your motorbike gets stolen and it’s reported to the police, this exclusion won’t apply.
Anyone under 25 years old, with a valid driver’s licence, is covered under your policy so long as they have your permission to ride. However, they won’t be covered if your Policy Schedule states that only named drivers are allowed to ride your bike.
With new Comprehensive Motorcycle policies, you and your passenger’s helmets are automatically covered as part of an approved claim for your motorcycle, as long as they’re not insured elsewhere. Plus, you can add cover for you and your passenger’s leathers and safety gear by buying the Protective clothing optional add-on. Third Party Only insurance doesn’t provide cover for protective clothing. If you took out a Motorbike policy before 23 March 2025, your protective gear isn’t covered but may be under a contents insurance policy.
It depends on the policy you have. With a Comprehensive Motorcycle policy, you can have either an agreed value policy or market value policy. If we decide your bike is a write-off, and you have an agreed value policy, we'll pay the sum insured value in your policy. For market value policies, we’ll pay the market value of the bike at the time of the accident, or the sum insured (if less than the market value).
If you write-off your brand-new bike within 12 months of buying it, we may replace it with a new one of the same model and specs (if available in NZ). If finance is still owing on your bike, we may pay part or all the claim settlement to the finance provider. After we settle your total loss claim, your motorbike and any salvage become our property.
Our motorcycle policy covers motor scooters, mopeds and electric motorcycles, as well as conventional motorcycles.
