Home insurance : A brief lowdown on what you’re covered for

Insurance 101 | April 2019

We get it. Life is busy. You don’t remember the details of your home cover. So, here’s a quick guide to some of the cool benefits of our home comprehensive insurance.

Replacement of keys and locks

Keys lost or stolen? You’re covered up to $500 and a special excess of $250 will apply.

Low excess for windows and more

Accidentally breaking your window or fixtures like a toilet bowl, sink, fixed mirror or fixed glass lampshade can be pain. If you’re living in the home, a lower excess of $250 helps take away the sting.

Hidden gradual damage

Hidden gradual damage can be an unwelcome surprise – thankfully you’re covered up to $2,500 with your home insurance if you’re living in the home. This is for hidden rot or mildew caused by water leakage from an internal water pipe or tank.

Temporary accommodation costs

If you can’t live in your home because of a loss covered by your policy and you have to pay rent for temporary alternative housing, we’ll pay reasonable costs for the accommodation for you, your family and your pets.

Cover for someone else’s property

You’re covered if you are legally liable as the owner of the home for damage to someone else’s property or injury to anyone, such as damage to your neighbour’s property due to a fire at your home.

Home and contents better together

Having both your home and contents with State can make admin easier, plus it can pay in other ways.
